Clinic Notes: Dr. Chari, Vetuvelavan & the Expanding Universe of Belly Fat

🩺 Clinic Notes: Chari Saar & The Expanding Universe

Dr. Chari adjusted his spectacles and returned to his journal — a JAMA article on cellular respiration. On his desk lay an open copy of Einstein: His Life and Universe, a stack of Vedanta commentaries, two texts on Quantum Biology, and a Rubik’s Cube paused mid-puzzle — as if even the cube needed a moment of contemplation.

Just then, the door flew open like a cyclone on vacation.

“Saar… I can’t breathe!”

It was Vetuvelavan, puffing like a roadside steam engine, his girth preceding him like a loyal shadow. He collapsed into the chair, which immediately filed a silent protest.

“Ah, Vetuvélava,” Dr. Chari said gently, “take a deep breath — not all of them at once.”

The man’s lungs heaved like ancient bellows. His face glistened, his belly swayed like a monsoon pond. Once a wiry farmer, Vetuvelavan had harvested not just crops, but kilos — with every good harvest, his waistband retreated further into history.

“I’m dying, saar,” he wheezed. “Please... do something…”

Dr. Chari peered at him over the rim of his specs. “We’ve done everything already, including sending you to the Brindlemalai District Hospital for scans that could’ve lit a Diwali lantern.”

“What did they find?”

“Just you. And a little too much of you.”

Vetuvélava blinked.

“You don’t need medicine,” Chari continued, placing his stethoscope aside. “You need subtraction. Your body is like the cosmos — expanding due to excess energy. Only here, the dark matter is ghee roast and sugar tea.”

Vetuvelavan let out a snort.

“Eat less, move more. Walk. Stretch. Breathe. Eat plants. Sleep on time. Touch the earth. Speak less. Worry less. Laugh more. Hug your children. Lighten your belly and your burdens.”

“But saar, it’s hard…”

“So is dying.”

Vetuvelavan paused. “Saar, write down what to do. Bullet points please. My wife is angry. My kids are still small. And I haven’t even seen Ooty yet!”

Dr. Chari smiled, handing him a note titled:

"Operation Shrink the Universe (Within)"

🌀 Quantum law, Vetuvélava — As inside, so outside.

Trim the fat, free the breath, and liberate the mind.

One kg at a time. One breath at a time.

Your lungs will thank you. So will the chair.

The body is a temple, Vetuvelavan… not a godown for ghee and stress." — Dr. Chari
