**Can Healthy Food Harm Us? The Hidden Health Risks We Rarely Discuss**
"Doctor, This Doesn't Happen to People Like Us."
Maya was not crying nor afraid. She was angry.
Calvin, her husband, successful, early forties, disciplined, health- conscious, sat quietly beside her.
Maya looked at me and said...
"Doctor, this doesn't happen to people like us."
I understood why she was angry...
They exercised regularly, ate plenty of vegetables and fruits, and slept on time. They did not smoke nor drink. And no significant family history.
They had done everything right. Or so they thought.
The reason they had come to see me was simple......
Over the last two years, Calvin had noticed something strange, a slight tremor, little slowness, occasional unsteadiness, mood changes, and difficulty expressing emotions.
Small things. Very easy to dismiss.
After examining Calvin, I shared my concern....the features were suggestive of early Parkinson's disease.
That's when the anger appeared....
Because deep down, most of us believe a simple story....
If I eat healthy...nothing bad will happen.
If I exercise...nothing bad will happen.
If I do everything right...nothing bad will happen.
But life is more complicated than that.
After a few moments, I asked a question....
"Where does your food come from?"
Silence.....
Nobody had ever asked them that before. And maybe that's the problem.
We obsess over calories, protein, carbohydrates, and supplements.
Yet we rarely stop to ask... What else is entering my body every day?
Because food doesn't arrive alone.
It travels through soil, water, storage, transportation, agriculture, chemicals and
pesticides.
I'm not saying pesticides caused Calvin's parkinson's.
Human disease is rarely that simple. But research has repeatedly raised concerns about long-term exposure to certain pesticides and their possible association with neurological disorders, including Parkinson's disease.
That should not make us fearful.
But it should make us aware. Because Wellness isn't only about what we eat.
It's also about understanding the invisible world behind what we eat....the air, water, soil, and farming practices.
The exposures we rarely think about, right?
The lesson from that consultation wasn't fear.
It was awareness.
Sometimes the biggest threats to our health don't arrive wearing a warning label.
Yhey arrive looking perfectly normal.....a fruit, vegetable, daily habit....and lifetime exposure.
🌿 Freedom begins with awareness.
🌿 Transforming your Life comes with knowledge.
Before asking... "Am I eating healthy?"
Ask.. "How healthy is the environment behind my food?"
