Good bye Daimond! Adieu to a Gem..!
It was a long time ago. I was just a junior consultant. I still pottered around in a rickety motorbike.
But now times were changing both externally in the world and internally inside for me.
I had married recently and going about in a motorbike with pregnant wife was becoming little difficult n dangerous.
So started my lookout for a small car to fit my limited budget. I looked at several cars, but none suited my budget nor my outlook.
Then, one day, I landed at Tata showroom. It was love at first site.. a cute looking car called Nano. Ratan sir's dream car Nano had been launched and the moment I saw, I knew, I wanted this.
The Nano suited my needs. It was cute looking, spacey inside and fitted my dwindling monthly budget. More than that, it was beautiful to look at, and Rattan Tata's vision of a car for the masses was magnetic.
And Tata quality n realibility was legendary.
When I heard Rattan sir's story, of the dream to develop the Nano for all the family to travel together in the rains, I was hooked.
I bought the white coloured Nano. I loved it. All our family travelled together. We were so happy. So many memorable memories....my wife, my senior dog Tommy, my Amma and Appa and finally my daughter Puttu as a one year old.. fond memories.
Nano was there with me in happy times, when my daughter was born and in sad times, when we carried the dead body of my Tommy for burial. Nano carried the drama of birth and death of my life.
I laughed, we smiled , we spent happy times as a family in the car. And we cried big tears in the Nano when my Tommy was carried in Nano for burial.
So many emotions in this little car, whom most people hated. This vision of Rattan sir to give the masses a dream. A dream to own a car, for the family to travel together, to go in comfort, in the vagaries of weather in safety, made Tata, what it stands for always, an visionary company with a purpose.
Thanks Ratan sir for the vision, to dream and to make it a reality. Thanks, for inspiring us to dream and to give the guideposts that dreams can come true.
Thanks again sir, for teaching us that, if you know your "Why", then the " How " becomes easy. If you know why you want to do it, then the whole universe conspires to make it happen. A dream, your Why and then Magic happens as unknown forces come to support you to make your dream happen.. this is the lesson I learnt from Sir Rattan's vision of Nano and Tata philosophy. ...
Adeiu sir. Your life was an inspiration and it will inspire generations to come. ...to dream and to make it happen. To be gentle, kind, humane and still to succeed in life. To Give with full heart and Win in life and death....Bye Rattan sir!
