Vaidyo Narayano Hari! Happy Healers Day.
Today on this day, I thought I will put in my musing of whether there is any qualms in finding a good doctor or just finding a big corporate hospital and your disease will be taken care of......???
Bigger the hospital, better is the treatment.
Completely false.
It is believed that bigger the hospital, better the doctors and better the treatment.
While it may or may not be true, that better doctors are found in bigger corporate hospitals, it is definitely true that corporate hospitals are big business with share holders, lots of investments and at the end of day profits.
Yes, bigger corporate hospitals have better technology and equipments, more infrastructure and manpower. The question to be asked is who pays for all this? Definitely the patients pays for the equipments, salaries and of course the profits.
Another question to be pondered is whether better technology, equipments and infrastructure translates into better treatment and outcomes for the patients?
The reality is a good humane doctor, who knows how to - -use technology for best outcomes.
Also the best use of equipment in a cost saving way, keeping the best interests of the patient in mind, with a philosophy of helping and curing at reasonable cost. And along with that keeping the hospital going with reasonable profits.
Don't look for bigger hospital. Look for a better doctor, who is human, who treats a patient as a person, who looks to cure the illness and get the person back to normal at earliest, who knows the art of healing and uses investigations, equipment and technology to aid his diagnosis and heal the patient.
Hear to the judgement of such a doctor and take his advice. Bigger or smaller hospitals are not the issue. The core of better treatment is a better doctor who can take care of you and cure you of your ailments and ultimately heal and put you back to normal, on your feet....fast
