“Why I Don’t Start With Anti-Obesity for Weight Loss.”
“Doctor… can you just put me on Fat loss drugs?”
Mohan asked it directly.
No hesitation....No curiosity...Just… big expectation....
And I understand why. Newer Anti obesity drugs(Like Ozempic) works beautifully. It reduces appetite and people lose weight...
So why would a doctor say no?
Let’s Be Clear first....This is not anti-medicine.
Medications like GLP-1 drugs (commonly known by names like Ozempic) have a role in the right patient, at the right time, and for the right reason...
But here’s where I am cautious...
Because Obesity Is Not the Core Problem. It is a signal...of imbalance, a signal that something in the system is off.
Look closer and you often find: A system failure of
-Poor sleep
-High stress
-Irregular eating
-Ultra-processed food
-Minimal exercise.
All major contributors to Obesity..
The question is, if all these do not change, what exactly are we treating?
"The Truth"
You can reduce weight without fixing the system. But you cannot restore health without fixing it...
And that difference matters.
Why I Don’t Start With a Shortcut
Because it becomes easy to believe:
“This is the solution.”
But it’s not. It is a temporary support and context-dependent...
Using Anti obesity drugs without change is like:
- Putting a bandage on a diabetic foot ulcer and hoping the sugar levels will correct themselves.
Or like:
- Wanting the title of a doctor
without going through the years of training.
It gives a result. But not the foundation.
Real change requires effort....
Honest correction like fixing sleep, managing stress, eating with awareness and exercising consistently...
These actions are not glamorous. They don’t promise fast results...
But they build something deeper - A system that works with you.
So What Do I Actually Do?
I don’t reject medication. But I don’t lead with it.
I start with:
“Why is your body holding on to weight?”
And we work from there.
Because when the system improves:
-Energy improves
-Cravings reduce
-Weight begins to shift
Just naturally.
Final Thought
You can lose weight in many ways.
But not all of them create health.
If the foundation is weak…the result won’t last. The weight will keep coming back...however hard you try.
So no…I don’t rush to prescribe Ozempic.
Not because it doesn’t work...But because you deserve something that lasts.
🌿 Real wellness is not about quick results.
It’s about building a body that no longer needs shortcuts.
